Living in big cities always fascinated artists, writers and musicians as inspiration for creativity - the melting pot of nations and mentalities, big dreams and failures, living on the edge as well as being isolated and lonly among millions of people around you - so do THE KOKOON.

THE KOKOON's new EP is headlined by title giving song "We didn't go" ("the world's only new wave drinking song" - Shannon Coulter/magnatune) taken from the LP "Berlin". The EP features three more exclusive tracks written and recorded at the same time "Berlin" was made with the same emotions and feel. It is meant to be more than a single filled with B-sides but showing all concerns of the LP in a compressed shape of four pieces of music. It's an ironic view on modern big city life style - pushy, edgy, exciting and exhausting; sometimes all at the same time…

The debut LP "erase" released in 2004 is all about tunnels and the feelings and stories you could imagine by that. You enter a tunnel by car for example and you know there may be only one exit. You don't know what will come when you leave the tunnel but it definitely will happen. It's claustrophobic and exciting at the same time and there's no choice really - you have to move forward, in the stream of the others - but there's quiet a bit of space for little stories in the meanwhile…

"I'd love to go on" is the second release in 2009 and covers a new step in the music biography of The Kokoon. The tunes are catchy, full of hooks and energy while Danyx' voice shows sensitivity and emotions in a way never heard before. The title giving song "I'd love to go on" might be the first - yes! - love song they've ever done but without the missing of tragedy and beautiful suffering in a shape of big emotion. |
